How To Prevent Freezing Of Closed Cooling Tower In Winter

1. If the temperature is lower than 0 ℃, the operation of closed cooling tower may cause the freezing of the packing and air inlet window of the closed cooling tower. It depends on the setting of outlet temperature of convective water. Generally, it is recommended that the water temperature in winter should not be lower than 10 ℃.

 If low temperature is beneficial to operation, please ensure operation in a lower range.When the temperature can meet the use requirements, stop the fan as much as possible.Too low outlet water temperature may cause frost. It is suggested to increase electric heater and outlet water temperature when necessary.

In case of long-term shutdown , connect the exhaust valve on the water inlet of the cooler with compressed air to blow out the flowing water in the coil so as to ensure that there is no water in the coil of the cooler. The outdoor unit shall be covered for heat preservation and antifreeze.

2. Prevention of coil freezing in winter operation of closed cooling tower

Ethylene and propylene glycol are better antifreeze solvents for coil. The dosage and refer to the instructions of antifreeze manufacturer. Or refer to the following case: Example 1: when the user's local predicted low ambient dry bulb humidity (air temperature) is - 10 ℃, 20-30% high content antifreeze and 70-80% pure water should be added. After actual use, it is found that the water is still frozen, and the proportion of antifreeze should be added until it is not frozen.

Example 2: when the user's local expected low ambient dry bulb humidity (temperature) is - 20 ℃, 40-50% high content antifreeze and 50-60% pure water should be added until it is not frozen. By analogy, the lower the freezing temperature point is, the higher the proportion of added antifreeze is. It is accurate that the actual freezing is not frozen. Please master it flexibly.

When industrial antifreeze is not available, run the system to the following two conditions:

  1. Make the coil have sufficient flow.
  2. Make the flowing water have enough heat load. The outlet temperature of the flowing water in the coil shall be higher than 10 ℃
