Protection Of Cooling Towers Using Antifreeze
- Protect the components of the cooling system against corrosion;
- Prevent scale and reduce the heat dissipation effect of the radiator; antifreeze must have the characteristics of antifreeze, anti-boiling, anti-corrosion, anti-scale, and no foam, and is not affected by seasons and regions. Among them, freezing point and boiling point are the basic indicators of antifreeze. When using antifreeze, you must pay attention to the quality. If the quality of antifreeze is poor or even inferior, it will not be able to play the role of antifreeze. The coolant is prepared by mixing antifreeze and water in a certain proportion. Usually, closed cooling tower manufacturers will specify the mixing ratio of antifreeze for different low-temperature antifreeze levels, and also specify the type of antifreeze, which cannot be mixed. Generally, when the ratio of antifreeze to water is 40:60, the boiling point of the coolant is 106°C, and the freezing point is -26°C; when it is 50:50, the boiling point of the coolant is 108°C, and the freezing point is -38°C. It is generally required to prepare coolant at a temperature 5°C lower than the local minimum temperature. The effective use period of antifreeze is mostly two years, and when it expires or the coolant is found to be dirty, it must be replaced. When replacing, be sure to remove all the old coolant, then add clean water, and start the cooling tower to run for about ten minutes to cycle and clean. Drain the clean water after shutting down.
